They could be by Zero, but, if so, I think it's without Cipollina. All 3 areinstrumentals. #23 has a lot of sax, and rather frenetic Hopkins-stylepiano. #24 has a lot of pedal steel, and at the end someone says "ThanksPete".]This show, together with many others, is legally downloadable in variousformats from the Live Music Archivesection of The Internet Archive.PersonnelSteve KimockguitarJohn Cipollinaguitarvocals20Greg AntondrumsBobby VegabassMartin FierrosaxBananakeyboardsvocals4, 8, 15Anna Rizzovocalsbacking vocals7, 8, 14, 15, 174Hadi Al-SadoontrumpetMolly's Bar, Boston, MA, December 7, 1986Tracks1.// Try A Little Tenderness4:152.Rock Me Baby (1)5:453.Severe Tire Damage10:524.As The Years Go Passing By (1)8:285.Mona //13:286.Baby Baby9:487.Unchain My Heart (1)5:108.Riding With The King7:00Total64:503rd gen analog sbd recordingtape provided by HGdigital transfer 2021-10 (16-44)Notes:- hissy source - be warned!- most likely incomplete- most songs fade in/out (taper paused beween songs?)- "Tenderness" fades in in middle of song- "Mona" cuts off at very endPersonnelSteve KimockguitarJohn CipollinaguitarGreg AntondrumsBobby VegabassMartin Fierrosax, fluteBananakeyboards & vocalsHadi Al-SadoontrumpetAnna Rizzovocals (1)Wolfgang's, San Francisco, CA, December 29, 1986 (Partial) (MKV)Tracks1.// Baby Baby2.Tangled Hangers3.The Core *4.Try a Little Tenderness5.Tear Tags Off Mattresses //The Barry Flast CollectionBarry Flast was a musician who played with the who's who of the Rock & Roll world for 45 years. Ispeak from some authority as I performed with Zero from 1985 until 1989 and often after following Martin's death in 2008.The Chi Chi was a regular venue on our schedule during the late 1980s, and aside from the parking in North Beach and the shitty backstage accommodations was agood place to perform in San Francisco. Miss Keiko really liked John (Cipollina) and we had an open door to bookings there.I vaguely remember this show as Martin had another gig that night. I have no idea who the conga player was that night, but here's the rest of the actors onthis night in 1987:John Cipollina, guitar (To answer the question about Mona, that's John singing lead); Greg Anton, drums; Steve Kimock, guitar; Bobby Vega, bass;Lowell Levinger (Banana), keyboards, vocals on "Riding With The King"; Anna Rizzo, vocals; Hadi Al-Saadoon (me) on trumpet and flugelhorn, and on backup vocalsI'm not sure who the guest guitarist was, it could have been Matt Lusby, but I'll never know for sure.Anna was not a regular member of the group, but her voice was always welcomed. After John C left due to his health issues, I endured for a few more months prior to relocating to Seattle until 2016. Judge Murphy and lyricist Robert Hunter appeared in the band's orbit in 1990, and things weren't ever the same. It's strange to be up there without Martin, or Judge, but I'm grateful to be sharing a stage with Steve and Greg again after so many years. To the detractors of this lineup, it was, and always will be, a jam band. The "Lone Star" was in an old row home. Very narrowand deep. The stage was more in the front of the place, across from the bar againstthe wall, and in a lot of the club, the sightlines were poor. I always booked a seat earlyin the balcony, looking straight down on the stage. The "Lone Star" had a real relaxedatmosphere, and the staff were nice folks, at least to me.This was unfortunately the last time I ever saw John Cipollina. He was a real nice guy,and could talk your arm off! For some unknown reason, the show started more than anhour late, and the first show was a bit short. I had taken a nice photo of the band fromthe previous ZERO show I saw at the "Lone Star" (Torrent # 276373), and went up totheir dressing room on the third floor to get it autographed. Everybody was real nice, gladly autographed it, and then I headed out to Penn Station to catch the 1:30 AMtrain (the last one until 5:30 AM) back to New Jersey. Enjoy!bpthreePersonnelJohn CipollinaguitarSteve KimockguitarGreg AntondrumsBobby VegabassJohn Fareykeyboards & vocalsMartin FierrosaxophoneHadi Al-SaddontrumpetEmpire Rock Club, Philadelphia, PA, February 27, 1987Tracks1. 0:402.Baby Baby 8:473.Tangled Hangers7:314.The Core 9:275.Little Wing4:546.Tear Tags Off Mattresses9:27 7.Try a Little Tenderness5:098.Going Down 8:509.Straight Jackets12:2210.Golden Road 9:5711.Pride of Man 7:42Total84:52Source: SBD > CassM > DATLineage: Tascam DA20MKII > RME 96/8 PST > Sound Forge 5.0 ( Resampled from 48kHz to 44.1kHz with anti-alias filter and 4 of 4 setting ) > CDWAVE > mkwACT > SHNThis show, together with many others, is legally downloadable in variousformats from the Live Music Archivesection of The Internet Archive.Bogey's, Albany, NY, February 28, 1987Setlist & durations match unknown location, May 30, 1987

I fooled with my EQ and it helped some. It's too bad, beacuse the music here is simply stellar. Sun SunSun contains the first of many incredibly inventive and lyrical guitar solos performed by Kimock. Anorexia is great fun, with Martin's contribution beingthe standout. Home on the Range is the coolest, most exciting, chance-taking version I've ever heard(I've heard about 100 versions, give or take). Wow.'Nuff said.Tangled Hangars is absolutely fantastic. Awe-inspiring. Unreal. At around the eighteen minute mark, Kimock and Vega take us on an thrilling journey througha stunningly gorgeous, brilliantly musical world of audio bliss. The rest of the show is pretty damn good, too. Cheers!Reviewer: dscott - September 13, 2008Subject: Mighty fine stuff! The quality isn't perfect here, but it's plenty listenable. The band goes way out there on Home On the Range and Tangled Hangers. Kimock brings the housedown on Can't Keep a Good Man Down.
